The Physics and Atmospheric Science Department provides excellent undergraduate teaching programmes as well as advanced instruction and training at the graduate and research levels.  High school students who are interested in studying physics or atmospheric science are referred to our high school page.

The research done by our undergrad and grad students and faculty is world class and covers many topics. Our research focuses on, but is by no means limited to, the understanding of materials, the study of the atmosphere, and the application of physics in medicine and biology.

We are located in Halifax, which is the largest city in Atlantic Canada. Halifax offers an outstanding quality of life. For more information about Halifax and the Atlantic Region or Living in Halifax, click here.
